For some the course will provide an oppotunity to deepen their understanding of the Bible and Christian beliefs. Others may complete the qualification as a means of obtaining formal training in order to be allowed to function in a certain Church, Chaplaincy, or other missions or ministry situation.

Generally speaking, the Diploma course is intended to equip individuals to serve in a range of leadership roles in churches, community organisations, Christian education, health, social services or aged care services or Christian not-for-profit organisations.

Before doing a Christian Ministry and Theology Course, you should check if it is the right thing for you. Maybe all you need is a clear sense that God is calling you to do it. Or maybe you need to talk to your Church leaders and check if it is going to give you the qualification that you need to work in your particular Church or ministry environment.

Entry Requirements
The Diploma of Christian Ministry & Theology is a rigorous course, requiring the completion of theological research essays and practical tasks using an advanced understanding of the Bible and Christianity.

To gain entry to the Diploma, you must:
  • be involved in a paid or voluntary ministry position 
  • OR have previously completed studies in Christian Ministry or Theology
​A ministry position could be within a local Church, Christian ministry organisation or other community group. It includes roles such as Church leader, usher, kids or youth leadership team, music team, catering team, community service volunteer, Chaplain, etc. 

If you are a new Christian or have not been involved in a ministry position, then we recommend the
Certificate IV level course, as it provides a foundational introduction to the Bible and Christianity. 


ENGLISH COMMUNICATION SKILLS
In order for you to complete this course, you need also to have a sound level of ability in written and spoken English. ​This is includes the communication skills required to:
  • have a conversation with your trainer
  • read course materials
  • write short and long answers to questions
  • conduct research and write essays
  • deliver a verbal presentation

​​MEETING ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
When you enrol, we will ask that you to participate in an Entry Skills Test. The entry test will involve a multiple choice quiz designed to evaluate your readiness for the study by assessing key skills in language proficiency, digital literacy, numeracy, and cognitive reasoning. Most people who passed Year 12 (senior secondary school) will be able to acheive a pass result in the Entry Skills Test.

You will also be required to provide us with a written testimony detailing your current role in Christian Ministry or previous studies completed (approx 300 words) as part of the entry testing process. Please keep in mind the purpose of this is to show that you have a foundational understanding of Christianity required for entry into the Diploma level course. It is not a test of your past, your beliefs or you as a person.

In order to successfully complete our programs and courses (either online or classes), you will need to have the following equipment and skills:

Assessment Methods
The Christian Ministry and Theology Courses follow a competency based assessment approach, which is required of Australian Government accredited Certificate IV level courses. 

The course is structured by a series of tasks that address the topics of each unit. Your Trainer will be there to give you guidance on how to complete the assessment tasks and also provide you with feedback as you progress through the course. All assessment tasks have to be completed satisfactorily and there are opportunities for reassessment if you are unsuccessful on your first attempt.

​The types of assessment tasks in the courses include:

  • Case studies or scenarios 
  • Projects (e.g. Bible study outline, Timelines, etc)

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)

Students have the flexibility to choose to be enrolled as a full-time or part-time student. It all depends on what works for you, we'll be there to help you every step of the way.

Please note that the below hours are just a guide. The exact amount of hours it takes can vary depending on your educational background, familiarity with the Bible, experience with previous study and many other considerations relating to your personal circumstances.

*Average hours varies depending on electives chosen. Calculation includes allowance for 6 weeks holidays per year. These hours are calculated based on the official hours allocated to this Australian Government accredited course.

Students that need more than these maximum time frames must apply for an extension. An extension fee may apply. Changing between full-time and part-time is free.

The actual time it takes a student to complete the program or course will depend on such factors as:
  • ability to study 
  • how much time can be given to study each day or week
  • Christian Ministry and Theology knowledge 
  • past experience with any kind of Christian Ministry experience
  • motivation to finish the course quickly
  • desire to do extra study and research along the way
  • other personal factors including health, family, financial and employment circumstances

Assessment tasks are designed to prepare you for a real-world environment. Tasks range from short, multiple choice answer questions right up to larger projects, where you learn to plan and deliver your own sermons. 

The amount of time that you need to put into completing the assessment for the Certificate IV will vary depending on factors such as your existing knowledge, and your past experience.

If you are enrolling via one of our partnership Churches, then there will be set dates and class session times that you will need to attend. This information will be communicated to you by your Church. 

All students need to submit their assessment via the online learning system. Your Trainer may allocate you some class time for the completion of assessments, but you will also need to set aside time to study outside of class hours.
