The course will qualify you to teach English as a second language. There are two outcomes for students who complete the Certificate IV in TESOL:
Participants who do not have the qualifications or experience outlined under Outcome B below will be able to teach English in a less demanding and less professional capacity. For example:
A participant who already has a Tertiary Level degree and then also completes the Certificate IV in TESOL will find a wider range of employment opportunities.
For example, in Australia, the combination of a University Degree and the Cert IV in TESOL would be sufficient for teaching English at a National ELT (English Language Teaching) Accreditation Scheme (NEAS) accredited training centre (see www.neas.org.au/teachers/elt.php )
Potential Course participants should research the requirements for whatever Country, and particular employment opportunities that may apply.

11. Do I need to complete a Certificate IV in TESOL to teach overseas?
The requirements for teaching overseas will vary depending on the country, position available, institution and level of English being taught (e.g. conversational English vs. academic English). If you are planning on teaching in a place where there is a lot of competition for jobs and the salaries are very high, such as the Middle East, then you might consider completing a Certificate IV in TESOL over a lower level course, as it will make you more employable.
